Job Description

Negotiating and purchasing raw materials, sub-contractor services, MRO supplies, and facility services for a machine shop manufacturing operation. 

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Identifying multiple sources and acquiring competitive bids for required materials and services.
  2. Negotiating with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  3. Developing strong relationships with supply base.
  4. Generating and issuing purchase orders to satisfy demand while controlling inventory.
  5. Assuring suppliers and subcontractors are supplying a quality product on time.
  6. Works closely with suppliers/sub-contractors, manufacturing operations, and sales to ensure on time delivery to customer requirements.
  7. Drives continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Ensure compliance to quality management system.

Position Knowledge/Skills /Requirements:

  1. Basic Requirements
    1. 5-10 years’ experience in a buyer / purchasing position for a machine shop.
    2. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
    3. Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities.
    4. Sound decision making and results driven.
    5. Strong organizational and computer skills.
    6. High level of energy.
    7. A continuous learner.
  2. Preferred Requirements
    1. APICS certification or actively working on certification.
    2. Knowledge and experience with lean concepts. Ability to identify and implement improvements.

Pay Scale: Commensurate with experience.
