  • The Financial Controller oversees all aspects of accounting, finance and human resources operations and is ultimately responsible for maintaining a strong system of accounting records, controls, and financial plans designed to continually improve financial performance, mitigate risk, and enhance the accuracy of the reported financial
  • As a member of the senior management team, the Financial Controller is also a key contributor towards developing and delivering strategic business initiatives that increase shareholder value by growing top-line sales, productivity, and trading
  • Core responsibilities include accounting and human resources department management, financial reporting, maintenance of internal controls, overseeing employee payroll and benefits, recruitment activities and strategic management
  • Assist the President in the generation of the annual plan, including supporting analysis and benchmark key performance indicators
  • Aid in mentoring non-financial managers of operational departments in developing stronger budget awareness, minimization of waste, and ownership of the financial impacts of their decisions
  • Contribute to risk mitigation through the vetting and approval of significant Company contracts, inclusive of large purchase orders, long term contracts, leases, insurance renewals, and other such matters
  • Provide financial analysis where needed in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, commission calculations, operational improvement projects, and contract negotiations
  • Contribute as a senior financial team member on business development initiatives such as:
    • Business development initiatives: including planning and achieving distributor to direct sales conversions

o    Major operational process improvements: including enhancements to the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP, such as systems for in-market pricing and discount analysis and automated calculation and control of commissions or e deployment of a new payroll system incorporating paid-time off tracking capabilities,


Accounting Management

  • Supervise and monitor performance of accounting staff including recruitment, training, appraisal, and setting objectives.
  • Overall responsibility for an accurate chart of accounts and KPIs, credit controls, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed asset register, bank account reconciliations, and foreign currency
  • Ensure the integrity of the overall company stock balances and valuation. Monitor and control the investigation of purchase price and stock variances, making recommendations on potential improvements in stock maintenance


Financial Reporting

  • Oversee and ensure on-time delivery of Group reports inclusive of:
    • Monthly Flash, Management accounts, margin, people costs, and general overhead trend analysis vs prior year and budget
    • Monthly divisional profit and loss accounts and departmental expense reports
    • Quarterly Latest Estimate reporting and analysis of performance vs plan assumptions, including recommendations for dividend payment
    • Interim and Full Year Consolidation accounting packs and supporting analysis


Internal controls and audits

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal government tax reporting and filing
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors and tax authorities, ensuring that all queries are answered to their satisfaction with target dates met for timely
  • Maintain full compliance with Group Internal Controls through a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and delegation of authority. Serve as primary liaison with Group internal controls auditors, driving improvements where processes are not sufficient to evidence full
  • Communicate updates and changes to controls as appropriate with employees


Human Resources and Compensation

  • Manage routine payroll and benefits processing
  • Perform review of all payroll amendments and bonus calculations, reconciling all changes in accordance with internal
  • Oversee the liaison between Watson-Marlow, Inc. and our benefits and pension administrators, ensuring employee entitlements are administrated properly and
  • Oversee Employee Recruitment and new hire orientation
  • Human Resources Policy - Support management in the improvement, communication, and maintenance of Human Resources policies that meet legal and ethical requirements, good employment practice, and align with our Group business code
  • Talent development and Succession planning: Partner with management to maintain succession plans and Performance/Potential matrices, defining development training plans for emerging talent
  • Sustainability: Oversee employee satisfaction and engagement initiatives


  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • 15+ years accounting experience
  • Heavy finance and treasury experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Team player
  • Solid communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics AX software is a plus.
