Job Description

Open, direct hire position available for a qualified Production Manager in the Providence, RI area. This position is responsible for all plating operations from receipt of customer order/parts through final packing and shipping; will supervise and direct associates assigned to operations group on a daily basis. Works with quality, scheduling, customer service and plant leadership to meet safety, quality, scheduling and cost goals.


  • Work independently to supervise and direct associates in assigned team.

  • Conduct daily meetings with team to review goals and shift change instructions.
  • Work independently to meet objectives; seeks help when additional resources are required.
  • Develop key interdepartmental relationships with operations, quality assurance, sales and customers to effectively expedite orders to satisfy the company’s commitment to 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and complete within required timeline.
  • Read, understand, and develop operational reports, schedules, and other reports.
  • Additional duties as required


Safety and Environmental Stewardship

  • Supervise and direct team leaders, platers, assistant platers, and helpers assigned to operations group; ensure all activities are performed safely in compliance with company policies and Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Coach and train associates on best practices to complete a task safely.
  • Report all safety and environmental incidents to plant leadership in a timely manner.
  • Train team members on housekeeping/5S techniques. Maintain clean and orderly team areas; implement 5S practices in work area.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

Coaching and Mentoring

  • Establish and maintain a coaching climate in the operations group
  • Give to continual feedback to team leaders
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Develop or improve job descriptions as needed


  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with company quality policy and other plant quality certifications.
  • Report quality measurements to plant leadership on a daily basis.
  • Coach and train associates on best practices to yield conforming parts.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem solving initiatives with platers, quality engineering, and other support functions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement


  • Work with sales, customer service, quality to develop delivery schedules, meet delivery schedules, and communicate with customers on commitments and scheduling changes.
  • Coach and mentor team leaders and platers on basic planning and scheduling skills
  • Assign daily tasks to platers, assistant platers, and helpers to meet delivery schedules.
  • Report scheduling and productivity measurements to plant leadership on a daily basis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

Cost Management

  • Monitor consumable supply usage, report issues to plant management, and make recommendations for new products to introduce to the plating process.
  • Manage consumable supplies to budget.
  • Manage labor to budget.


  • Candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, physics or other technical discipline
  • 2-3 years leadership experience in manufacturing, military service, or other fast-paced operational environment
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Project management experience
  • Basic computer skills
